Chevrolet has released some new details about the Eight-speed automatic transmission in the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
Scheduled to replace the six-speed unit, the new Eight-speed enables the Corvette to travel north to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and does the quarter-mile in 11.9 seconds; a difference of 0.1 seconds compared to the outgoing gear box.
Besides the improvements in 0-60 mph times, the Corvette is more fuel efficient as models equipped with the Eight-speed automatic transmission will carry an EPA rating of 16 mile per gallon city / 26 mile per gallon highway / 20 mile per gallon on the combined cycle ( United States).
As part of the changes, the Eight-speed transmission has a more aggressive first gear ratio which helps improve off - the - line performance, while having the "world-class shift times that rivals the best dual-clutch design"
